We are looking forward to meeting you! As "House Parents", our purpose is to make ourselves available to you and keep the community running well while you come to know your housemates, pursue your education and work towards success in your endeavors. As you are an adult, you will not need us to oversee your schedule. Instead, we hope to share what we have learned from life as it relates to yours. We, too, have responsibilities outside the house and will only interact with you on your schedule in terms of whether you will be home for dinner and as needed in terms of safety. We will also be in-town backup for emergency situations.
Our History
We met as Young Life field staff. After we married, Chuck became manager of Young Life's Woodleaf, a camp in the Sierra Nevada foothills. An important part of our responsibility there was leadership and interaction with the college students who served the camp. When we left Woodleaf, eleven years later, we transferred their experience into ministry as "sponsors" in the college group of our local church. We have 2 daughters, one completing her Bachelor of Arts as a Resident Assistant at Chico State and the other working on a Masters degree at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. We have had the privilege of involvement with college students for over thirty years.
